iPad 2 not working, can't get Internet

I have wifi and AT&T 3G, neither of which will allow me to access the internet or get e-mail. I can use my app for reading with no problem. Have done a reset and shut it off a few times but nothing has worked. I did have a similar problem a few months back and a reset seemed to fix it at that time. Help! I am feeling very lost without the darn thing.

Shut it down, remove the SIM card (if it has) and put it back in. That's been said to work.
If AT&T doesn't use SIM cards I am sorry but no further ideas.

Thanks for the advice hpulmer! Turns out the wifi modem had been shut off. That does not explain why I couldn't use the AT&T but it is working fine today.
