    Satellite link & no more dependence on Wi-Fi ?

    For Christmas 2011, I got an iPad 2 and it is totally dependent on Wi-Fi.

    How do I upgrade to satellite link ? People say get Verizon or other providers but never have done it before.

    What should I know before going in to get an upgrade please ? I live in the northeastern USA if that helps ?

    If you mean that you want to connect your iPad to the Internet without a wifi connection, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

    There are two types, and the one you buy is the one you are stuck with. There is no possible upgrade to a 3G iPad from a wifi only one.

    You could tether it to an iPhone using Personal Hotspot, but that's about it.

    Thank you & obviously I have to buy one from Verizon ? Is the iPad 3 as good as the iPad 2 ?

    Most people would say that the 3 is better, with it's retina display and better camera etc.

    For myself, I'm still more than satisfied with my iPad 2, which, by the way, is a 3G model that has never had a SIM installed. I find wifi and tethering to be enough for my needs.

    Amen ... I am happy with my iPad 2. It sure beats my old Windows laptop by leaps & bounds !!
