Help with everything ?

So I got the iPad thinking it was just like a computer .....so far it's just an upgraded nook color......can't figure out how to get things from my pc to the iPad, hook up my printer to iPad, get Microsoft word or even photoshop on it..... How do I do all this and what are the best apps I should have on it, and how to I use iCloud ...I have a cloud in settings it's registered but can't figure out how to save items directly to it ....going insane and starting to think it wasn't worth it since I already have a nook color that does exactly what this iPad 2nd gen does......

Asking for help from manufacturers maybe is the best way!

It's all about apps, or mostly so. Files go to apps, not the iPad in general. To use files you need a compatible app first, not as an afterthought. Apple only supplies built in apps for the most common (and not brand specific) file formats; then a few more apps of it's own for it's own stuff. After that you have to --->

Search the App Store for apps to do what you want. They will list in the features the various ways to import/export files. You should also search the forum (I recommend the custom Google Search at the top of the website) for subjects you are interested in. There a a ton of threads on printing, iCloud, and stuff you have not even thought to ask yet.

Microsoft Office itself is not available as an app, but you can use it either with a Remote Desktop app like Splashtop or LogMeIn; or a virtual desktop app like CloudOn or OnLive.

There are several Office Suite solutions that have varios degrees of utility and compatibility with MS Office. Research which one comes closest to what you need.

• The iWorks apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote)
• Documents To Go
• Office HD
• QuickOffice
• Polar Office (new, but getting decent reviews)

As for Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Touch is available in the App Store. There are dozens of other good to great drawing and photo manipulation apps available.

Hello ArtistCece, yeah, the iPad is just a little more complicated than your Nook Color and certainly a whole simpler than a computer. You've already gotten several replies for other members. You have really come to a great place to figure out what your new iPad can do. I would suggest you get these three apps. You might already have this forum's app? But there are two more I would suggest. Here is a picture of these three apps. You can find them in the AppStore.



The first app, AppStart will give you some ideas and discussion on different apps you should get. The second is AppShopper. This app allows you to search for different apps available in the iPad world. As you explore this forum, you'll find kindred spirits with people who have experiences similar to yours. Don't be afraid to ask.
