All videos were deleted. Previously we had 4 videos (10-20 secs each) and 228 photos. Now down to 0 videos and 96 photos. Don't really want to delete those as they are precious.

I have used a friend's laptop with itunes installed and connected the ipad. It says "IPad sync is complete. OK to disconnect". I still can't take any photo with the ipad and it still says Available:0 bytes.
Thanks again in advance for any more help....

I think I found the problem. In itunes I can see it shows the breakdown of capacity. It is almost all "Apps". However, my wife did not download any apps as far as she knows. Is there some way to find which apps are taking most space and delete them ? Any other advice ? Thanks again

iTunes manages the iPad. If you don't connect you must proceed as you are now by not knowing where the storage is allocated. You ate down rev as ver 5.1 is most recent and allows storage breakdown at iPad level.

That or start deleting apps right from the iPad. Long tap an icon until plus sign appears, release, tap plus sign, delete app.
Background apps are hiding for good reason. Seek them out, close them. The world will be a better place.

Restart the iPad. Long press power button until slider appears, slide to power down. Power back up, check available space.

Thanks again. I have been deleting apps, but it has no effect on "Available" capacity (just stays at 0 bytes). Version is 4.3.5 (8L1)

Surely even if I remove even a small app, it should add /something/ to the available ? I just deleted Office2 HD, and no effect at all. And then there is all the photos and videos I deleted already. I don't understand at all.......
    ?

I've done that twice now (as per my original post, and again just a few seconds ago). IT still says "Available: 0 bytes"

I've deleted a few more Apps, and also restarted again. Still it shows Available: 0 bytes. Any further advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks !

Something isn't right or something is being miscommunicated.

If you hook it back up to iTunes does iTunes report 0 bytes available?

Can you provide a screen shot? Press the home button and power button together and you will hear the shutter sound. Look in photos and a picture of your iPad screen at the time you pressed the home and power buttons will be there. Attach that photo to your next post here if possible.

Either something is running that is actively consuming disk space or the OS is misreporting the data.

Go to your safari settings and clear history, cookies, and data, then press advanced/website data/remove all website data.

Still no joy we are going to upgrade you to 5.3 of the OS.

Try to get that screen shot posted.

    Thx
