    iMessage for 5.0.1

    I Have upgraded my ipad2 to 5.0.1 recently. I have the impression that the iMessage functionality enables a user to send and receive text messages. I can only send to email addresses NOT mobile numbers in the iOS gadget. Is this normal or my ipad2 has problems. Please those who know enlighten me.

    You should be able to send to any iMessage user, by email or phone number. It's not an SMS message to any mobile phone however. It's an iMessage to other iMessage users.

    You can only send to other IM users. You can use both phone no. or e-mail, but only to other IM users.

    I think they also have to be on wifi or 3G to send and receive

    You can only send them to other IOS 5.0.1 users, I use google voice over my wifi to send them thou.
