    Arranging Icons and Folders

For some reason all of a a sudden I can't move icons or folders from one screen to another. For example if I want to move a new app into an existing folder on another screen, it won't go....it just bounces back. Same for apps just trying to rearrange them. It used to work fine before. Any thoughts???

I have always had this problem but managed a workaround. Take an app out of the "dock" so there is only 4 in it then use this as a "holding place" - drag the app you want to move down to the dock, swipe to the next page then drag the app to it's new location. Restore the app you moved out of the dock back again when finished.

Hi Kspector - appears that you were able to do this easily in the past, so what has changed? Of course, the previous post suggests a good option and changing your icon/folder positions via iTunes is still another choice that works well for many.

But since this is a change and if not already tried, I would suggest first a 'Restart' of you iPad, and if not successful, then a 'Reset' - directions HERE, if needed - good luck!

You haven't completely filled all the allowed pages with icons have you? This would probably prevent shifting about...

How many app icons are allowed in a folder that is created? For instance I have created multiple folders and organized my apps in those based on their family such as Utilities, Finance, Office, games, etc.

However, I find that I am only able to transfer a certain number of apps into each of these folders. Beyond this number, it does not allow any further apps to be assigned to the folder. Is this normal of do I face a specific issue?

Hi again Kspector - just curious if you gave my suggestions a try, i.e. Restart or Reset (or both)? May not help but will not cause any lost of data! Good luck -

Have you closed down the apps in your multi task bar?
Do the four finger swipe up or double tap the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press one of these apps until they start to jiggle and red minus signs will appear above them all. Press all the minus signs, this will close them, not delete them. It's a good idea to do this regularly just to keep them all running smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now.
