You can set restrictions on some of the apps via the Settings app.

However, the only way to lock apps or folders (as in, require a password to get into them) is if your iPad is jail broken and you have the Cydia tweak Locktopus (or some similar tweak).

Marilyn is almost always 100% correct in her advice (in my experience.) In this case, she is correct as usual, but it's worth noting that some apps provide the capability to password protect individual files under an app's control. For example, you may find a note taking or photo album management app that enables you to (selectively) lock individual files or photos that you access from that particular app.

Keep in mind, however, that this approach only protects the copy of a file/photo accessed from that particular app. If you have the same photo in your camera roll and in an album managed by a separate photo display app, there are two copies of that photo on your iPad. You will have to manually delete it from the camera roll to prevent its access from the apps that access the camera roll.

Tx jsh1120, much appreciated..was more fore the pokes of someone trying to access my apps that are always logged on like Skype, Scruff etc.
