How to download songs to I pad?

How can I download songs to my I pad directly from a site. I used I download hd app but the song can't be imported to music app and I can't download songs directly from safari as it just streams the songs online.
How can I download a song directly to the music app with my I pad .or is it a must i should use I tunes to do it?

To get non-iTunes music into the Music or iPod app on your iPad you have to first import them into iTunes on the computer, then sync. There is no way (that I know of) to copy the music directly to the iTunes library on the iPad.
