Ipad video

Will the iPad import and play h264* mov files, 1280 x 720, from a video/ still camera through the camera connection kit; will iPad iMovie see these files and edit them without syncing thro a computer? Thanx

I believe the video files must be MP4 to play on the IPad. I use a program to convert them and then place into ITunes and transfer onto IPad2.
