Safe or not to bring ipad 2 on sleep mode while we take a walk?

Usually i bring my ipad 2 every where i go.......some time i turn off my ipad 2 .....but some time i only closed it with smart cover (going sleep mode).....it is safe or not for my ipad 2 if i take a walk with my ipad 2 on sleep mode?

It is fine as no hard disk it is solid state memory so no moving parts unlike a lap top? I use a apple case to protect screen I also move the iPad every where while turned on .........
