Thank you, that was very helpful. The iPhone is so new to her and so different from the Japanese mobile phone she was using that I have been setting things up for her. I have only installed a couple of apps (both free) on her phone as she is still struggling with the basics of email and SMS etc., so I think I will go in and delete them to start all over again. Then she can look over my shoulder to see which apps she likes the look of.

Problem: when I attempt to install an app my wife's iPhone email address comes up as her Apple ID and I can't find any way to change this. Help! She only had two apps installed but they are both very useful. One is a localized weather service and the other is an emergency earthquake warning service. No one here in Japan wants to be without the latter!

So I am reinstalling with her ID until you tell me how I can get my apps onto her phone. Could it be as easy as selecting the apps in iTunes and then syncing? Nah, surely not... (grin)

On the iPhone, at the bottom of the App Store's Featured screen you will see her Apple ID. Tap and sign out. Once you are signed out tap the button again to sign in with your Apple ID. You should then be able to purchase and download apps using your account. That means using your password to confirm the downloads also.

You need to do this for all three of the stores seperately, App Store, iTunes and iBooks (if you have it).

Thanks. Where is the sign-in/out in Apple store and iTunes? I have beeN able to sign on with either Apple ID thanks to tour instructions. All I need is these two final locations.

    TIA,

In the same plece in the respective apps. ITunes does not have a Featured page, so use the Music one. The iBooks Store is located inside the iBooks app. When you are in library view there will be a Store button at the top. Again, go to the bottom of the Featured page.

Ah! So I watch out for the display of the Apple ID, which comes at the bottom of one certain page, and can click on it to sign in and out. This is one if those "easy when you know how" which are NOT intuitive. Like clicking on START to close down Windows. (!)

    Thanks muchly!

    Lol. Glad to help.

It actually shows up on more than one page in each app, but not all of them. It was just easier to tell you to go to a specific page than enumerate all the possibilities. Lazy person that I am, I'm always looking for easy.

You could say "Try clicking on the Apple ID that you will find at the very bottom of some pages in the App store and iTunes/iBooks. This will usually allow you to sign out and then back in again using a different ID." I suggest this as I used to write user manuals and I share your laziness. (grin)

Hmm, I'll take you up on that. It is sure to crop up again.
