so when i get it, is there an option to back it up? like you would a new computer, or is it necessary? i know these are probably lame questions.
any help is appreciated.

Plug it into ITunes. It will show up as a device on the left hand side. Right click on it, and select backup.Originally Posted by bogartjenkins

To start with, probably not necessary to backup, but once you start adding data, apps etc, you will want to back it up in iTunes just incase
When you connect the iPad via USB to the PC/Mac, iTunes automatically opens, creates a backup of the iPad and synchronizes. All you need to do, is plug in the iPad, the rest is all done automatically.
