I had an issue as I had several old files that where already in M4a format, instead of adding them to itunes I created a folder called "vids" put the files in it and then added that folder to my photo folders to be synced, it worked perfectly and I found the files showed up instantly as video's in imovie

It seems the problem with "imovie on ipad2 can ONLY edit ipad videos" its fixed on imovie 1.2.2 and iOS5. Now we should play and edit on imovie videos from externals cameras (like dslr).

Here the reason: iMovie for iOS: Some video clips do not appear in the Video browser

But, what is the list of caremas that works on imovie 1.2.2. In what resolutions ?...

I agree. At least the problem I was having has been solved. After upgrading to iOS5 and iMovie 1.2.2 (giving up the 4.3.3 jailbreak) I can now use the CCK to transfer stills or videos from my camera's SD card and use them on my iPad2. This is true for any of the four video modes my Kodak Playsport camera uses (WVGA, 720p@30 fps, 720p@60 fps, and 1080p).

Prior to this I could only easily transfer stills; videos taken in WVGA format had to be converted on my XP netbook first. The other three video formats would not transfer.

Now, I just pop the SD card out of the camera, put it in the CCK, import the stills or videos, and they all show and play in the Photos app, in Camera Roll, and in iMovie. It's what I wanted to be able to do when I got the iPad2 in the first place.

How about this one. My daughter and I have the same Panasonic TM60P HD video camera. She has a MacBook and can easily upload from the camera into IMovies. I have an iPad2 and can only upload still photos, it doesn't recognise the video clips which are in HG1920x1080 format. Even if I try to load them from an SD card via a card reader it refuses to recognise the media. As iMovies is supposed to be the same on any apple platform, isn't this recognised as a 'problem' rather than a 'feature'?

Oh come on! I'm not a professional, I AM the average Joe Public. I just want to load my home videos from a universally popular brand camera into a device that claims it is the bees knees when it comes to media viewing. Once I am able to get the film loaded into iMovies I know that software will be more than enough to do whatever I want with it. The problem is the initial load to the iPad, which I still maintain is a 'problem' with the device which really needs addressing. Nobody's really suggesting I just throw away my (last year's model) camera just because Apple haven't got round to fixing their problem. Are they?

I am having a similar problem. Is there any way of viewing unsupported video files saved on your sd card on your iPad? Is there an app that will convert there unsupported videos to the correct format and resolution? I don't have access to a laptop or computer, is there any way of solving this without first converting via computer.

You can post it to You Tube to be viewed there or is he has an iPhone or iPad, you can share directly to that with Wifi or Bluetooth using an ap like Photosync.

Working in iMovie...Two questions: 1. Only some of my iTunes songs uploaded to iMovie. How do I get all to upload? 2. I am trying to include a video clip that someone sent me from their iPhone. It is the only video that won't upload to iMovie, i can view it in my photos. Any suggestions?
