Ok i really need the scoop about tethering a iPhone 4 to a iPad 2 with AT&T

Looks like you can switch to the tether data plan on months you want to use it. I just looked it up on my account in the manage features option online. And it is $45 a month but you also get 4GB total of data with the $45 tether package.

iPad connection until such time as you activate it. This is separate from your iPhone contract. It is in addition to your 3G service month to month that you may also activate fro your iPad. Those are three different, unique services. The mobil hotspot function, at $45, drives your computer and other devices like your iPad2

If you have the $45 mobil hotspot activated and are also paying your $25 iPad 3G charge you are double paying. Your iPhone contract only gives you service for your phone. Your iPad monthly usage 3G fee drives only that singular iPad.

It is month to month to tether. Use it only when you need it to connect your computer, iPad, or whatever.

I sure would love it if I could tether my unlimited AT&T grandfathered iPhone data plan to my WIFI iPad, but that sure isn't happening, and I'm not about to give up my unlimited iPhone date because that's the thing I use most when I'm out. I use my iPad at home for surfing, also at seminars where there is free WIFI anyway, and at work, I don't need the internet since I have it on my work computer, so I am using my iPad for other productivity tasks. So for me, I am not messing with what works. Even so, it still would be fun to be able to use my iPad at work to browse during lunch, but I'll live!!

Set it up on your iPhone but be prepared to pay $45 per month (no contract).

Thata why I bought the 3 g version AT&T. I don't want my phone tied up

I want to tether my IPad 2 non 3G to my iPhone 4. Is it possible without jail breaking either ? What cables are needed. Can someone post detailed instructions, Do I have to notify AT&T?

I was using my iPhone 4 with a data plan of $25 for the 2 gigs. I called them when I purchased my iPad 2 wifi only to add the tethering/hotspot option and for the $20 more got another 2 gigs with hotspot . So if you were like me I'm only paying an additional $20 and doubling my data. Don't know if I'll ever use 4 gigs but I'm gonna try

Can't you guys tether for free from your phone like I do with my droid x as it's rooted.....would you guys just jail brake your iphone4 in order to do this? And is there a wireless tether app in app store for apple?
