I doubt it'll affect the warranty. It's pretty much like scratching up the back, considered part of normal wear and tear.Originally Posted by mojo jojo
It'll reduce the resale value, though, if you ever want to sell it in any pursuit of a future version of the iPad.

In that case, it'll be fine. Artwork itself sometimes INCREASES the value, but will limit the number of potential buyers. After all, not EVERYONE wants Spidey on their iPad. I have a Zune with the Laurent Fetis "drooling smiley face" on it, which is totally cool. If I could get THAT on my iPad 2, that'd be awesome. I guess I should clarify my earlier statement: PERSONAL engraving, such as your name, some identifying info (My Zune has my name, phone number and "reward if found" on it) or some phrasing would mostly certainly reduce the resale value.

thanks now i only need to find a laser engraver of reliable repute. anyone know anyone in the tristate area? or a reliable business?
