To completely delete gmail mail you will need to delete them again from the Trash folder. I think they are automatically deleted from Google servers after a a month if they are in Trash.

Bummer. I put over 800 into the Delete Messages folder.

You could try waiting a month, but they might be cached on the iPad. Otherwise happy clicking multiple Deletes!

On my gmail I click on trash - hit edit - and select ”delete all". Originally Posted by 420benz

Thanks for pointing that out. I had forgotten about the Delete All button, which only appears on the Trash Folders.

If you go to your Trash Folder left hand column, you will see an Edit Button top right. Press this and at the bottom a red Delete All button will appear. Press this and you are done!
