If we really cared about how exceptionally fast your Internet is we would have made a separate forum to this.

hi, Im new to the forum but not to the iPad.
I'm still rockin' the original!
In my decades in "Apple world", it seems to be more common to buy a product that meets a need, then drive it for years, rather than to upgrade every few years. Apple customers are often as loyal to a specific piece of hardware as they are to the company. I know people who are still driving their iPhone 1 and iPhone 3g and are very pleased that they still work. I personally still use two 20g 5th gen iPod videos (at least 6 years old), a 2007 Intel IMac that I use every day, and a 9 year old first generation MAC Mini that I still turn on from time to time, in addition to my ipad 1 which is in new condition. I'm not too cheap to upgrade, they just still work and meet my needs.Quote:

Each new generation of iPad is targeted more towards those that haven't bought yet, than those who have.
If your iPad 1 is still working well, and meeting your needs, use it in good health!
I never owned one.

I have my iPad1 setup just the way I like it. It works. I am, however getting an iPhone 5 in December.
I still have iPad 1 and it working fine here for me i use it every night to watch Tv Series on or Movies and Live stream of TV via Eye Tv works a charm for me at the moment i have no intentions of upgrading soon i have a mini and i use my mini for everything else and just use the 9'7 inch for media and that it.I think personally from the iPad 1 to the mini there isn't really that greater difference at all really just he mini just a little quicker and you can take pictures with the camera built in nothing special really if you aren't a Facetime person then you dont' really need to upgrade your iPad at all really.I only bough the mini just purely something to have at hand when i'am out and about and i want to watch something or so something its a great device for portability
Iam hope to keep my mini for a long time i'am not interested upgrading every year i just think it a complete waste of money at the end of day the iPad should last you a good five years even if you use it for every day or maybe longer if treated correctly.
If you buy a iPad every year over here in the Uk you don't get good money for what you payed for it maybe half back for what you payed for and you have to find the extra money to put to the new one and you put all that money in to five years thats a lot money that could be spent on other things.
Here is the figures
£650 iPad wifi 64GB Version
!2 months later i was offered £300 pounds for it cash
and i thought to myself its worth more to me to keep
then to sell it to a company
So ever year you have to find £350 pounds if you put that in to five years that a lot of money just for gadget
In five years thats £1750 pounds that could buy you a nice new Macbook of apple direct
I personally just it find it a complete waste of money upgrading every year and apple don't upgrade there products enough to say i want one them now its just ok and there isn't of a leap to say it worth the money some people just upgrade because they want the latest apple product don't get me wrong i have no problems what people do with the money but i just think i could spend my money on other things just little changes that apple provide again
If you are a business person and you are always using your iPad all the times checking emails etc then i could understand upgrading every year because it a business tool and you need the fastest operating system out there to serve you well in your business but if you are just using in for a gadget for a past time or fun then there isn't really a lot of point really.
I also avoid trying to assign a value to a depreciating asset. The value of what I buy has to be in its use or I would cry about all the money I throw away:)

Same here. I can see older iDevices becoming useful in different ways as they age. My iPhone will become a dedicated MP3 player and my iPad 2 will eventually be used as a dedicated GPS. Right now, I don't see any need to update since the iPad 2 is still doing everything I throw at it. The only limitation I find is the 16Gb storage capacity, and there are workaround a for that.Quote:
