Original iPad microphone not working

Is there a thread that discusses stereo headset microphones that work with the iPad and Skype or FaceTime? I tried the search function (in TapaTalk) but could not find anything. Thanks.

I tried the restart suggestion provided above, and I still cannot record through my 'audionote" application. It just doesnt record or detect any external sounds! any suggestions please.

Next stage is a reboot...hold the Power and Home buttons at the same time until the white Apple logo appears - it can take a while but, have faith, it will appear - could take 20 seconds.

The iPad will then reboot - this too takes a while. No apps or data will be lost - it's only a reboot. See if that fixes the problem, if not, get back to us. We're here to help...:)

Does the microphone work in other apps? If you don't have one that uses a microphone, there are several free apps in the iPad's App Store that you could use to check to see if this is a universal problem or specific to the app that you're trying to use.

I just had the same problem, my microphone stopped working after avfew weeks, although if you shouted into it there was a tiny signal. Apple service center, told them, they didnt even test, ordered me a new iPad immediately. Happy now.

I did try another application "Shazam" and it did not detect any external sounds as well. It use to work fine before, and have no idea what happend.

If you've tried the hard and soft reset, reboot, checked with other apps then I have to come to the unfortunate conclusion that it's a hardware fault. If you have an Apple Store - or Apple distributor - nearby, then I would return it there for them to check it over.

Hey Tim,
I got my iPad about 2-3 weeks ago and i got the same problem with the mic and skype.
I tryied to the restart you said but no changes i stil can heard by others.
The only thing that heard from my mic is a sound like my mic is jammed.
Any ideas?
