Copying/pasting photos/videos fm internet to my photos/my videos

I use my 1st generation ipad to share photos/videos with my 93 yr old dad. He does not have a computer nor does he have wifi in his house.
I know how to copy and paste but how do I copy a video off the Internet and paste it on my iPad so it will play when I visit him in his house. Do I have
To do some kind of conversion so it will play w/o internet connection? He really enjoys the items I pull off the Internet. Thanks.
