93 Updates - Mostly for the new iPad 3. Should I update my iPad 1?

I always keep my updates downloaded all the time but since the new iPad 3 came out I have accumulated over ninety. My question is should I download them; will they take up alot of storage space; how will the retna display app upgrades affect my iPad 1? What is the quickest and best way to download them all at once? Should I be selective when I download upgrades for my iPad 1?

Any advice gladly accepted.

I had the same situation with my iPad 1 a few weeks back, I just selected "update all" and it took around 10 to 20mins but of course it will depend on the specific apps and their updates.

Thanks thats what I normally do but my biggest concern is how much storage space do the updates take...do I need to keep them up to date with all the iPad upgrades?

As I was inferring above, the additional memory is dependent on your specific apps so no one will be able to tell you.

I had about 38. I've chosen to be selective with them and only downloaded the ones that weren't "retina" or the "new iPad" ready. I wound up downloading about 15 and even that made a very small difference with my available storage. I'm on a 16 G and near the end of my storage so I'm sensitive about that. I've found in the past I've had regrets about IOS And app updates so I'm taking the if it isn't broke don't fix it approach. No matter what I can't rid my iPad of the small numbered notifications like email, iMessage, Ect so I'll live with them.

If you haven't started your app updates yet--just for the sake of conversation, go to settings, general, and click on 'storage'. Choose to show all apps. Then just update one app, after app update, go back to the settings page and see if that app increased or decreased in size. I have over one hundred apps on a 64Gig iPad One, and my apps occupy 23Gigs, this includes my music, videos, etc.

OK so its been sometime since I posted this. I have been selective on updating the apps that are not related to retina display updates. i am still sitting at 63 updates and finding it clumbersome and time consuming to have to go in an update one at a time selectively. I hate that the updates aren't in any order so I have to go thru each one to see which is new. What should I do? Would Apple entertain suggestions on their update process? I wish they would put an IGNORE prompt like Microsoft does. I wish they would not go out of the app each time you tap update so that you don't have to go back into App Store to update another App. I wish that the newest updates were at the bottom of the list. I wish.....

While it doesn't help you now, iOS 6 is supposed to allow you to update apps and NOT be kicked back to the Homescreen once you've selected an app to purchase or update. And, it will be changed so that you can download an update or a previously purchased app without having to use your password.

Again, it doesn't help now, but it does tell you that Apple probably does listen to what customers comment on. So, you could go to Apple's feedback page and give them your input about updates and wanting to get rid of the badge. couldn't hurt...

Yeah, not much help now. So, this is really just sympathy and commiseration. Sorry.
