    new ipad 4.2.1 -> 4.3.5, but no 5.0.1

    hello guys,
    i was searching the net but im still not sure ...

    i just bought brand new ipad 1 16gb with ios 4.2.1, but i dont want to go to ios 5.
    is it possible to upgrade only to 4.3.3 or 4.3.5 ? or my only option is ios 5?
    if its possible, do i have to jailbreak or no?

    sorry for my english and thanx for response

    Welcome to the forums. Your English is fine!

    No, if your "new" iPad has 4.2.1 and it was never jailbroken before than you have no option but to go to 5.1 now. Apple has a security system called SHSH Blobs which cannot be overcome unless you have been saving the blobs specific to your iPad. To go to 4.3.3 you would have to have saved blobs back in June 2011 when Apple was still providing them for that version of IOS. It is impossible to get them now if they are not saved away.

    thank you for fast response

    daaamn, i thought the blobs would be the problem.
    is it big difference in ios 5 when it comes to ram? i know its not very ok with only 256mb.. i have 4s with 5.0.1 and its fast as hell (compared to my previous 2G ) but its two times powerful. i dont want to make ipad more slower.
    the speed is ok for me now, i use it for web, casual games and work but i worry about the speed with new ios :/

    my engrish is not fine now : D

    Actually, I find 5.1 is better on the iPad1 than 5.0.1 was. Apple definitely improved the memory management. Whilst you might not want 5.x that much, 5.1 is probably the best choice of 5.x firmwares for the iPad1 at the moment IMHO (4.3.3 is probably the golden firmware).

    PS- This is my 5,000 post on iPF! W00T!

    4.2.1 is very old now and many apps are designed for IOS 5 and utilise iCloud which you will never have on 4.2.1, but only you can make the choice If it were me, then I would.
