This is a discussion on Ipad 1 should i upgrade to ios 5.0.1 within the iPad 1 Forum forums, part of the Apple iPad Discussions category; Originally Posted by lubu so u backup then updated then restored Yup. Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk...
I wouldn't update if I had it to do over on iPad 1. Safari and othe apps crash more often because of memory problems (as reflected in my iPad's diagnostics log). I also don't like the new Music app, and I don't use most of the iOS 5 / 5.0.1 features.
I see fewer memory crashes on my iPad 2, because it has twice as much memory, but Safari and other apps also crash with more frequency.
I did a backup and full restore with both iPads, as well as iPod touch 4 and iPhone 4, which I've since given to my husband, because I switched to 4S.
Weirdly my iPad 1 has not crash at all after upgrading to its 5.0.1

And I strongly recommend to set up device as new when upgrading to iOS and not to restore from backup

lol gonna update it right now and test with a clean install
just updated from 4.3.2 to 5.0.1 it dont seem laggy yet or slow probly cuz the apps are installing now
I don't think I've updated to IOS5.0.1 yet. Haven't heard much about it, but will have to see the update info to see if it's worth the upgrade.
Updated ipad1 to ios5 and doesn't seem to lag. Safari may slow down sometimes due to a few windows were opened with some fairly complicated website loaded. If it is on simpler website, it doesn't lag.
Overall, ios5 provides better experience.
