Instant Mirror is a helpful tweak to some who cannot find a mirror in many places. If you find yourself putting on makeup and not having a mirror, this tweak can easily substitute carrying a mirror around. Best thing about Instant Mirror is that you can always hide it and look at your lockscreen. One tap of the home button does that, two taps still brings up iPod controls. It seems to be a pretty solid built tweak and I don't even notice a difference while turning on my lockscreen. Check out Instant Mirror in Cydia for $1.49.

MacStories reports today that Apple has started to approve apps that use features that won’t be available until iOS 4.3 is released. They note that an app called StreamToMe was updated just a couple of hours ago with AirPlay video streaming support, even though AirPlay video streaming is not currently available in iOS 4.2. This means that at the moment, only developers with access to the iOS 4.3 beta will be able to use that particular feature, and they’ll also need to have an Apple TV that has been updated with the latest pre-release software in order for it to work.
According to MacStories, the fact that apps are already being updated with new iOS 4.3 features indicates that iOS 4.3 will probably be released to the general public towards the end of February, with possibly another two or three betas released before then, and a GM seed.

Mashable highlights a fantastic new music discovery app called Discovr today, which really looks like the sort of thing that every music lover should treat themselves too. It’s basically an interactive map of millions of bands and artists, but so much more besides. If you’re looking to find some new music to love, the app gives you lots of different ways to do so. One way to get started is to enter the name of a band or artist that you like and Discovr will present you with some similar bands and artists. On the web-like chart, you’ll see that bands that are similar are joined together by lines to show their relationship with each other. Tap on one of those icons and then even more artists and bands will appear that are similar or connected in some way. If you want to learn more about a particular band, simply double tap on their picture to get access to their bio, as well as videos, reviews, blogs and features. Looks like a brilliant way to discover new music as well as finding out more about your favourite acts.

If you are a person who has a lot of app on their device, it would be really cool to slide through hundreds of colorful icons without a stop in between. It would be like creating a rainbow of accessible content and just watching the possibilities go by. You can also use tweaks like Gridlock and maybe make a pattern as you sway through them. If you've been needing a free tweak like this, check out PageLock in Cydia.

PC World has a new spin today on the recent stories and predictions about the iPad 2 possibly having a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536. PC World spoke to IDC research manager Tom Mainelli who said that the recent reports about the iPad 2 having a quadrupled screen resolution are misleading, as it's likely that they refer to the iPad 3, rather than the iPad 2.
Mainelli added that he didn’t believe that anyone was prepared to produce a device with such a large resolution in the sort of huge volumes that the iPad 2 would require at this point in time.
“I think the Digitimes story probably got the resolution right, but the iPad version wrong,” Mainelli told PC World. “Our sources say Apple has requested that manufacturers begin work on displays with that resolution for the iPad 3.”
So, as ever, we have several different theories currently circulating about the next iPad’s display, and as ever we’ll just have to wait and see what turns out to be true!

Nearly a year on from the iPad’s launch and stories about the adoption of iPads in schools and colleges have become fairly standard, but this private school in Knoxville, Tennessee, takes the use of the iPad one step further, possibly a little too far, by actually insisting that all its pupils have an iPad. According to a report from Fast Company, the Webb School now requires that all students from 4th to 12th grades have their own iPad, starting from the next school year. And if a child doesn’t actually own an iPad, or have access to one? Well the school will then lease them one, via a three-year lease scheme costing approximately $200 a year, paid in monthly instalments.
Making it compulsory for every student to have an iPad might seem a little controversial to say the least, but apparently even the school’s English teacher, Elli Shellist, is all in favour of the move to replace books with iPads at the school. “Once I explored it,” he told KSLA News , “I was really excited, because there are things we can do better on this than we can on a paper text.”

The Juno Company, which specialises in the creation of innovative and musical education products, this week launched a really delightful-looking app called Juno’s Piano, which provides children of all ages with a unique and fun way to learn the real-life basics of playing piano.
The universal iOS app, ideally suited to the iPad’s larger screen, of course, features Juno, the main character of the award-winning series Juno Baby and Juno Jr. It has three modes (Free Play, Learn a Song and Play with a Parent) and aims to break down some of the traditional barriers facing children who are trying to learn how to play the piano. Juno’s Piano lights up the on-screen keys, guiding children to press the correct keys and play with different colours representing the note, ensuring a fun and enjoyable learning experience. Your child’s progress will also be encouraged by cheers and praise from Juno, and he or she can sing along with the piano playing to their favourite Juno Baby songs.
The Juno Company was founded by mother, composer and Ph.D. Belinda Takahashi, and is dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of, and appreciation for, music in children. It’s probably best known for its Emmy-award winning Juno Baby line of products and the Juno Jr. line. With the strong belief that beautiful music enriches lives, The Juno Company, in partnership with the National Head Start Association, donates a music education DVD to a child in need for every Juno product that is purchased.
