Cannot get iBooks to work

Could you specify what exactly isn't working with iBooks?

Have you downloaded it from the AppStore? Does it open?

A mere 'isn't working' gives little information as to what the problem could be and is thus quite complex to solve

Yes. I have the app for iBooks. I have purchased books & have them in library. Have been reading one book without problem until last nite. When I click on iBooks it opens to a page. That page is frozen. Can't click on anything else. Can't get to library.

The best thing to in such a case is to close iBooks completely.

- double click the home button, to enter the multitasking bar
- touch the iBooks icon, until it starts wiggling
- select the red circle on the iBooks icon to close it
- press the home button once more to end this mode
- reopen iBooks and hope for the best

Didn't solve my problem. Every time I open iBooks it opens to the same book that freezes and I can't close it.

I would be grateful for any other ideas.

If I delete the iBooks app, I guess I can get my collection back, right?

I found a way!

Go to the iBooks store and select any previously downloaded book. This will show you your iBooks library instead of directly opening the offending book. Then you can delete the offending book from your library.

If you delete the app it does not affect the books you have. This may work for some of you that are having problems. Once you delete it go back into the store and install it afresh. Once is is running go back to your library and you can we download the books again.

Hello, i'm new to IBooks apps...just got an IPhone 4S.

i understand that epub is better for IPads and other eReaders vs. an Iphone
and i will probably purchase one of each - an IPad and an ereader...

but for today i thought i could open IBooks and read some epub selections some friends have emailed me.

a couple of the selections will open, from within the email, when i select it to open in IBooks and the whole book is there and everything works as expected.

BUT some of the epubs will respond to the "open in IBooks" option, be on the library shelf with its cover showing, the title, and the table of contents are as expected

BUT when i select any page from there to the end of the book, the message on each page says "this page contains the following errors: error on line 1 at column 1. document is empty error."

did they not create the epub correctly?
or did it get corrupt through the sending in email process ?
