Please forgive me if this has been covered in the past 600 or so pages. I attempted to search but came up with not quite the answer I am looking for.
I have a question about how the "Greg Purchases" actually work in this game. I have read several threads that mentioned that after a certain amount of time (some say a couple hours, some say a couple days...), Greg will come buy and automatically buy stuff that doesn't sell. That's a good thing, especially if you, like a noob, price your stuff too high for the market. However, that leads me to my real issue:
Aside from finding out just how often/under what circumstances Greg buys stuff, I would also like to find out whether this auto-buy feature is a flat out cheating method. What I mean is, if I say, for example, set a price for 10 wheat at something ridiculous, like $1000, knowing full well that the item won't ever have the slightest chance of selling in the market, wouldn't I be awarded a bit unfairly, when Greg comes by and drops 1000 clams in my lap for my pitiful pile of wheat?
Everything has a max price you can list it for. Like for building materials you can only list for 270 for 1. That's why eggs and eggs and bacon are in the paper so much. Their max price is high considering how much time goes into making them, so they are the best thing to list if you want to wait for Greg to buy them.Originally Posted by hundreds

HayDay has limits on how high prices can go and so 10 wheat can only go up for something like 36 coins. Just help reduce the anger of people by not advertising that product. Having a whole newspaper full of them is really really annoying! Hahaha xx

I may be out of line saying this, since I am still quite the noob, but doesn't this kill the idea of real market values? With a "Greg will bail you out" mechanic, what is the point of advertising ANYTHING on the market? If there are max prices for items, no product values can ever rise and fall based on supply and demand. If Greg will always be there for you, the idea that this game can be played socially is barely an illusion.
Am I wrong in those opinions?
Personally, I am not a fan of spending a diamond just to remove a sale item. I think that a better way to punish people who advertise too high is to make them wait for the sale to expire (a day or two) and then allow the item's price to be edited or removed from the roadside shop entirely. I think having the Greg buyout option is a lousy solution to the issue of not running a good stall.
