edit: maybe some advice: when I expanded my land, I was immediately clearing it by cutting bushes and trees. Only kept a selected few towards the end. I regretted it a bit because I like the look of the trees. I have only some left, and some rocks, too. Be careful, they can't be brought back :-)

I used to get 1-2 too a day. I think this weekend was when I started getting less.
I do buy diamonds, a bit here and there, but I never get those sales offer that some people do either.
I did though, when I first started, get about 150 diamonds from the movie tickets
