Is it worth opening the mine? Or should I save that money and spend on something else??

Save for other machines. Mine isn't worth it unless you have all the smelters ready to use. Is your dock open yet? Do dock first before mine.

It is worth it, but I don't think you have to rush it.
In the mine, you can get ore (by using tnt, dynamite or shovels). Smelters make bars out of the ore. And the bars are mainly needed for jewlery, which you get at level 38. Using them on board orders is considerd a waste by many farmers. Since the jewlery maker uses the bars quickly, while they take long to make, you shouldn't open the mine too late, though.

I didn't do the mine until later. It takes ages to make the bars and the jewellery are only worth of sold to trucks (and even then I have to be patient until I get a good board order, I.e. a 3000 coin one for 2 diamond rings or 1200+ for 2 bracelets. If sold in shop the bracelet cost 400 something coins. I'd save money for other machines first. You make good money from cakes and juices. Get the machines first before you go for captain and send the boats with sugars and dairy away. You make better money sellong those goods install. Only keep the boats if you're working towards captain if you're still saving up for machines, ignore most boats and board orders. Sell in stall and you'll make money quicker.
