Introducing myself as a newby with a question about viewing DVDs on IPad 2 with wi-fi

Hi ... not used to forums so hopefully will not upset anyone by not following protocols
I live in the UK so find some of the threads a little difficult to follow/use as it would seem various Apps are only available in USA. I only recently purchased my IPad so still finding out how it works!
It may sound a very silly question and I have searched for an answer ... I've manage to save a DVD on my windows laptop and coverted it to MPEG 4 - hopefully that is the correct format - I then saved it in ITunes on my laptop and it says it sync with my IPad ..... where on earth do I find it on my Ipad and how do I watch it ... thanks in advance!

    Hi there and welcome.

I'm from the UK too, hopefully you won't have too many problems as most apps are available on both sides of the pond.

As for your movie, open the Video App, you should then see your movie as a thumbnail image, touch the movie and it should open. Let us know if that doesn't work.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules Forum rules - everybody please read!!

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) HACKING SECTION RULES - please read.

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Thank you for such a quick response! I've downloaded the manual and will download the forum on my iPad iOS 5.
I have AVPlayerHD but still don't understand how to open the DVD or find it! Do I need to save it to Itunes on my laptop as an MP4 rather than MPEG 4? When I click on my iPad in Itunes on my laptop the movie isthere, so appears to have been synced, should it be in AVPlayer when I open it on my Ipad 'cause it's not! Sorry if all of this sounds rather silly!

If its been synced you should be able to open it in the Video App......

Once open make sure that you are on the Movies tab.....

If that doesn't work, swipe your home screen (using four fingers) all the way to get to the far left hand screen, type the file name of the movie into the search bar and if it's been synced to your iPad it will come up in the results, then just touch it to open it.

Ahhhh ... now that seems to be the problem! I don't appear to have a video app other than AV player!

Hmm, that is very strange as the Video App highlighted in the image in my last post is a standard app that comes with the iPad.

Did you try searching on the left hand home page?
