Facetime does not alert me when called

FaceTime does not alert me when someone tries ti connect UNLESS I am in FaceTime. It is the same when I call my son. He gets no alert. I have to call him on the phone and tell him to get on FaceTime. Then when I contact him he gets the pop up. There must be a way for FaceTime to alert you of a contact even if you are in another app or for that matter, even if your iPad is in sleep mode.

I have an iPad2 with 5.0.1

The FaceTime app should alert you at all times, have you checked your alert settings? Settings - Notifications - FaceTime

hi i have a problem with my facetime. ive tried everything but no joy. my volume is on and facetime is turned on, there is nothing in my sounds folder for facetime so nit sure if there should be?

basically what happens is if someone tries to facetime me they text saying why arent you accepting facetime yet i get no alert, no pop up on the phone to say i have an incoming facetime or even a missed call from the person. but if i try to facetime them back it goes through to there phone fine and they can accept it fine and we can use facetime.

so can someone help me why cant i recieve facetime calls and only send them.

Is your iPad in DND at the time? (The little crescent moon icon near the time). If that is the case, you will get nothing to say there is a FaceTime attempt.
