It's called GeoGuessr (I can't post a link, but you'll find it). You find yourself in Google Street View, somewhere on the planet. Your challenge is to drop a pin on a map designating your initial location; the closer you guess, the more points you earn. You cannot exit Street View to a map, but you are free to "drive" around in search of clues. A game comprises five location challenges. Feel free to use any online tool at your disposal, although I think dropping a screenshot onto Google Image Search would be cheating.

So far, I've reached the 31,500 range, but can't seem to break 32,000. Budget about an hour for each complete game. Addictive, isn't it?

My wife and I went on a cruise from Acapulco to Barbados via the Panama Canal.

By doing this we achieved 2 must-do experiences. A holiday on a cruise ship, and a visit to the Panama Canal.

We travelled BiPad (Before iPad). The camera I used was a Canon Powershot S2 bridge type digital with a 12X optical zoom. The sensor is 5Mp.

OK, we wanted those tablets people carry around on Star Trek. BAM . . . we have them. Little devices that can be used to talk to anyone with a phone, anywhere on the planet. BAM . . . they are here.

Several companies arer building rockets, so that dream of space flight for the "masses" near.

We wanted replicators and BAM, we now have them. Makerbots are here and getting stronger. Need the latest Barbie? No problem, just find the file and some silly pink plastics. Need something made of metal, no problem. Ceramics and food, no problem. Need a new ear, no problem. Well, in a few years, no problem.

At least one researcher reports that we are quickly approaching the level of connection we see in the brain, duplicated on the Internet. Will the net be mean or smart or a wize arse? Perhaps in will be like our grandmothers? Huh?

We did NOT want the Borg, but BAM . . . we have Facebook and Google and we are becomming part of the collective. Add the new NSA facility here in Utah and everything will be monitored. This comes from the NSA, it is not a conspirecy theory. They are proud to tell us every call and email message will be looked at.

We can photograph at a trillion frames a minute and st that speed, the research team is seeing effect precede cause. not expected, but always assiumed that there is cause then effect. If what researchers are seeing is true, then what other strange things will we discover or discover are wrong?

So what is next? We can make most anything we need with a desktop tool. We have Makerbot like devices for creating actual food. A book I read tells of a company that has figured out how to make complex compounds on the desktop; another book predicts the abillty for dummies like me to create compounds at the molecurlar level. Desktop gene sequencers are here.

Sadly, we know that most locks are useless. Even the complex models (one of the most popular models at any rate) that add biometrics can be easily fooled.

So we are living near a life where everyone will know everything about us; a world where anything we need can be created on the desktop; a world where guns can be made on the desktop and there is almost no privacy.

I bought an iPod touch for my wife this Christmas as she likes to go running a lot. When I set it up for her, I saw that it had as many, if not more apps, on it as my iPad 3. One of the extra apps is the Nike +iPod. I realise that the iPod has no GPS but even so I set up the playlists on the iPod and entered details into the app. Then, when I was told to walk around and activate my sensor I realised the futility of what had done.
I went onto eBay and found a sensor kit NIKE+ PLUS TRAINING ATHLETIC RUNNING SHOES IPOD SENSOR SPORTS KIT NEW however, when I read about this particular item it showed that it was for an iPod nano. Can anyone please tell me if there is a kit for the iPod touch and if so where I could get one for my wife?

Hi all,
I haven't been posting a great deal lately as I have begun my fly fishing in earnest and as a result joined a fishing forum. The reason being the same as I joined IPF, in order to obtain advice and assist where possible. The only other forum I have been a member of, and my very first one, was a villa owners forum in Florida.
Since I have been on the fishing forum, I have observed that a certain number of established posters cannot contribute without being antagonistic, aggressive, downright rude, abusive, offensive and generally nasty. It is evident that a clique has been formed. Put forward a point of view that one of the clique disagrees with and others descend upon the unfortunate poster like a pack of wolves (a bit of poetic licence, please) :)
Calling into question any bad form exhibited by a clique member is to invite a barrage of smart aleck remarks. Those aren't so bad in themselves, especially as they are usually grammatically challenged but they are often accompanied by foul language under the guise of the odd asterisk filler. Defend anyone who has become a target and one is then berated, often, free speech being used as the excuse for such appalling behaviour. It has always struck me as odd, how those that wish to forcibly impose their will by posting abuse and the like, use the free speech card. That is putting it mildly. Enough said for the moment on that score as I do not wish this to become depressing.
With regards to the Florida forum, basically the same but the foul language was not so apparent.
Now, that I have got all the negativity out of the way, on to my main thrust. I joined IPF with some trepidation, due to the Florida experience but, wow, what a pleasure it is to be part of something which, to me, is what all forums should be. A market place where views can be traded, advice given, lively but friendly discussions take place and friendships made. It is a pleasure to be part of such a platform.
Thank you IPF, thank you administrators, thank you moderators and thank you to all members for making this such a pleasant place to be.

Sorry folks but couldn't resist posting about FC Barcelona. We are now official league champions (apologies to anyone of Real Madrid persuasion). We have had some ups and downs this season what with Pep Guardiola leaving us and our defeats by Real Madrid coupled with the disaster of the Champions League rout by Bayern Munich. Some silverware at least for our trophy cabinet.
As I am stuck in the UK I missed out at the celebrations at the Canalete fountain at the top of the Rambla in Barcelona but I was sent this photograph.
