One of last years most popular tablets for children, the Vtech Innotab has been updated.
This guide explains how you can put your own movies on the Innotab2.
If you have not done so already, download and install DVD Catalyst 4.
You can purchase DVD Catalyst 4 by clicking here (link), or download the free trial version by clicking here (link) The trial version converts 25% of each item.
After install of the DVD Catalyst 4 Trial or Retail version, start the application.
Make sure that at the top left, it displays “Build 4.2.5″ or something newer. If you are using an older version, of DVD Catalyst 4, tap on the cat-eyes to have it update.
Here, on the right side, select the VTech Innotab2 profile.
Now insert your DVD (I’m using Puss in Boots as an example) and DVD Catalyst 4 will scan it for content:
and tap “Go” to start the conversion, and DVD Catalyst 4 will do the rest.
Once the conversion is complete, DVD Catalyst 4 will open the location of where it copied your movie.
Here things get a little tricky, because the Innotab2 is a bit picky as to where it looks for movies.
Move your mouse arrow over the video, and click on the right mouse button to bring up a small menu.
in the little menu, find “Copy” and move your mouse arrow over it. Then click on the left mousebutton.
Now connect your Innotab2 to your computer with the USB cable, and it should show up on the side:
If you do not use a memorycard, it will show up as 2 additional drives. The IFSD drive is the one where you can put your own files on, the other one is for the Innotab itself. If you use a memorycard, it will show up as another drive.
Select the location on the Innotab2 where you want to copy your movie(s) to:
Then double (left) click on the LLN folder it displays.
and you should see a collection of folders. Here, double (left) click on the MOVIE folder.
Now move your mouse arrow to an empty spot on the right side (see the red dot in the screenshot below), and tap the right mouse button to bring up a small menu. Here, left-click on “Paste”.
and the file will be copied over.
After this is done, wait a minute or so, and then disconnect your Innotab2 from your computer.
after the Innotab 2 is finished loading, go to the videos app on your Innotab 2:
Tap your movie, and it will start playing:
And that is it.
