With Apple's popularity among the portable media devices with the iPod, iPad and iPhone, of course the iPad3 is something that a lot of people want. Super-easy to use, amazing screen, and of course obtaining content like music, movies and TV shows is made painless through Apple's iTunes.
But what if you already have a large collection of videos and DVDs. You might have a few that came with a so-called "Digital Copy", so you can easily transfer those over to your new iPad, but unfortunately, there is no consistency in formats for those. You might have a few that you can import directly into iTunes, but for others such as the "Ultra Violet" type, you would have to sign up on some website and then you can only access your movies when online.
For music, iTunes will import your music cd's with the click of a button, but for your movie and TV DVDs, it does not offer such import functionality.
This guide explains how you can do the same with your own movies, so that you can watch your own collection of DVDs on your new iPad, without having to purchase the same movie again in a digital format, or have to sign up and use some website to watch your movies. If you follow the steps in this guide, you will be able to watch your own movies (DVD, AVI, MKV etc) on your iPad 3 when- and where-ever.
