level 6 newbie cannot delete rock

I am at level 6. The goals wizard has come up and asks me to clear a rock from my park. I am not able to. When I select a rock to clear, a comment comes up telling me to deselect the building by tapping the grass... even though the rock is highlighted. The shovel icon is in the lower right corner but is greyed out as is the market icon. I have over $27,000 so I believe money is not an issue.
I have deleted the game from my Ipad, went to gamecenter to insure it was removed from there and then rebooted the Ipad. Re-downloaded Dragonvale and it still shows I am at level 6 and at the exact same spot I was in.

I think I might know the answer to your problem. The rock you picked looks more like a boulder, so maybe you should try and pick one of the tinier ones. Sorry if I'm wrong though!

I think it's just a tutorial to teach you how to deselect the rock, you just have to follow what the wizard tell you to do. The new tutorial was just added recently so i didn't encounter that.

does not seem to matter. Large med or small rocks for $500 and the same prob. Also same thing happens if I try to delete a tree.
I can however click on one of the structures I have built and move them around or even check out the info on it. With the treat farm I can move or info but grow treat and sell buttons are greyed out.The nursery has the buy egg and upgrade buttons greyed out. At the habitats I can also check out the dragons info and collect money. I can access the goals button to see the 4 goals I have outstanding. I can enter the options and friends screens from the bottom right. At no time can I access the market.
As you can see I have pressed and prodded just about everything I can think of on the screen. All that is except the one thing that will allow me to progress. lol.
Wondering if it is somehow possible to reset my progress to the beginning and start over? Do not want to delete my gamecenter name though as I will lose too many other games data.

It's weird that the shovel icon is greyed out when tapping rocks. To restart all over again you should delete the game completely, if ask if you want to keep game data, select no. Reinstall again Dragonvale, your gamecenter name is still the same, but you will lose all your gems and money.

I wonder how you got so many gems and coins? At level 6 you can not buy gems and coins at the moment, it's all greyed out. And there should be a green arrow pointing to which rock you have to clear, and once it is cleared you will automatically level up to 7. Very weird. Maybe it is a glitch. Try deleting your game including the game data, and restart all over again.

I try to make another account and play from the start, it should look like this, there is an arrow pointing to the rock, once you tapped the rock the arrow will be pointing to the shovel icon, and once you tapped the shovel you will level up to level 7. I saw at your screen shot that the huge rock was not there anymore but yet your goal is not yet done and still stay at level 6

Thanks for your help kryp2n8. I see by your screen shots the green arrow is actually pointing to which rock it wants you to delete. Nowhere on my screen is a rock that large and no green arrow so yea, I would say I am up against some kind of glitch. I actually started this game about 4 or 5 months ago when I ran into this problem and kind of set it aside until now. not really sure how I got that many gems and money. I do know I have not purchased any gems.
As far as deleting the game, and telling it to remove game center data and reinstalling I have done that twice.Even rebooted my ipad before reinstalling as per my sons suggestion. When I fire up the game again I am at the exact same spot with same problem. Somewhere either on my ipad or at gamecenter my data is being saved and reloaded for my convenience... I guess. That is why I figured I might have to change my name or something. Anyways I can try the whole reloading thing again. Who knows, right?

I think the best you can do is create a new GameCenter account or email Backflip at: support@backflipstudios.com
Be sure to include your gamecenter ID, they are very accommodating to their customer. It's very unfortunate if you can't play Dragonvale because you are stock at level6, it's a very awesome game.

So... Ashley at Backflip Studios kindly fixed my problem. Thanks for the link kryp2n8. Kept my progress at level 6 so no hassles for me anymore.

Gotta go breed a couple of dragons now.
