Have you tried switching up your dragons? When I got my first moon, I switched from Crystal/Bluefire to Bluefire/Crystal. I did it on a whim and got a 48hr. Got so exited that I bought gems to see what it was and thought it was well worth it when I saw my moon. Lol.

As for the epic breeding island. I've actually gotten about the same amount of rares from each island after the update. Either way, it's sure to increase your odds of getting a rare since you're breeding dragons twice as fast compared to just having one breeding cave. That's how I see it anyway.

Hey guys! I've been lurking here for a week or two, haven't had much to say, just taking in the info

Now however... I got my first 48h breed two days ago and it turned out to be a Moon! Got it from breeding a willow and quake! It was about time... Been playing for a couple of months. Good thing there's a thread like this that keep the fire going!

Funny, I just put my 4th moon in my park last night and was thinking I like the way the 4 of them look together and that I would now quit trying to get that elusive sun. Try for the 2nd rainbow instead and also finish up the shrines. Just now, for the heck of it, I changed my mind again and thought I'd give it one more shot...48 hr-breed with storm and mud. Figures! I almost hope it's NOT a sun now. This game is making me schizophrenic, lol.

I felt like I was going crazy trying to get any rare after my first Sun and then suddenly it was all Suns all the time, haha. There's almost always something to complain about though, eh?! hehe. Well, not right now for me actually ...I am pretty content finally - I'll just quietly work on my second Rainbow and Moon (until it takes too long, bwahaha).

Oh wow, me too! hehe.
I'd say there is some method generally though...although it can be hard to see sometime, haha. Maybe they throw a truly random one in from time to time though , just to keep us from completely working it out/getting complacent.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope your celebrations were fabulous and that 2012 brings all you hope for!!
It's been a fair while since I last had time to really get in here and post but I'm going to try to catch up a little today and tomorrow...hopefully I won't spam you all too much, haha.

So now, an update on my last update :
Not only was that last 48hour breed a MOON at last!!! (wooohooooooooooo! I just love my Moon dragon) but THIS:

is what is currently incubating in my nursery!!! Yep, not only a Rainbow (Blazing x Crystal) but a Sandstorm (Air x Mountain) too!! How lucky am I?! (have to say, about time though, )
That should (glitches aside) mean I have my 'every dragon achievement' later today! I also managed to score my final oustanding colosseum gold (Air) so that achievement is done too. Only the double Rainbow to go! Yay

Haha, I almost can't believe how much better my luck has been recently - just typing it out feels surreal!

And and just one more little random thing...
I think Shavemeshavers already posted something similar (3 Santas?) but right around the same time I also found FIVE on one of my islands at once...and at least 3 on another at the same time. Crazy and kinda silly huh?!

I know we've already discussed this a few times but it still makes me chuckle that some of us, me included, are already complaining about getting rares now *shakes fist at rares taking up breeding cave/nursery space*
I think most people complain about those darn Crystals after the first one though, blah! hehe

Hi Friends, can anyone suggest any recently working combo for Rainbow.. I am currently trying Bluefire x Crystal and frightened to try other combos as i dont require both Sun and Moon as i have 2 of each and cant find a place for the new ones as i am unable to decide on which habitat to get rid of..

Blazing x Crystal worked for me approximately 4 days ago...in fact, it's still incubating now!

How do you get gems faster?

The only ways to get gems are either being gifted them by other dragonvale players who are your friends on Game Center or earn them when you win silver or gold in the colosseum. Of course the fastest way is obviously to buy them, haha but most of us avoid that!!
