The best way to breed a Rainbow is while you are trying to breed an epic or limited dragon you still don't have, but if Rainbow is all you need, i would suggest:

Seaweed/Swamp + Firefly/Scorch

Those have less fail time

I just had to share this. You were right, firefly + scorch gave me a 3 hour result first time and when I went to put my standard mountain + rain in my EBS I got a rainbow! The wizards have a wicked sense of humor. Thanks for the advice

Patience is wearing thin. Spent a further 50 or so gems today, taking me well over 150 trying to get an equinox, and probably another 20 to 25 tries today. All fails. Takes me probably to around 120 fails and no equinox...

I've never found it this hard to get any dragon.

I've spent close to 200 gems on the equinox and still have nothing to show for it. I'm convinced I'm not going to get it this time around

Seaweed+Firefly
Seaweed+Scorch
Swamp+Firefly
Swamp+Scorch

But glad to know you got it with Mountain+Rain while trying for your Sapphire. Congrats!
