Ok, while I am trying to be patient attempting to breed a seasonal and a moon or sun, can someone explain the boost buildings to me? Can I have opposite buildings if I keep the buildings and associated habitats on separate islands?

Yes. It's called scoria dragon now because some people use it as a bad word in britain.

Earth + Metal Is a good combo.

BFS has changed Slag dragon's name.. Now it called Scoria.. To get Scoria, you can simply put Earth + Metal combo.. Hope it helps 

Actually the scoria dragon is considered an uncommon breed so you need three elements to breed it. You need to use at least one hybrid to breed it. You could try
Chrome earth
Mud iron
Tree metal
Lava magnetic
And many more

Uncommon hybrids (Iceberg, Steel, Quicksilver, Forge, Copper, Pollen, Evergreen and Scoria) can not breed with 2-element unless basic dragons are used.

So you can still get Scoria with Earth+Metal. But can not with Iron+Metal, Iron+Earth, Scoria+Metal and Scoria+Earth. This is good when you are targeting for the common hybrid.

You should know first which boost will have positive and negative effect to the elements of your dragons. For example, you have fire boost, which will have positive effect on all your dragons with fire element, but will have negative effect on dragons with cold elements, so should not place the cold element dragons in an island which you have fire boost.

Finally have a Moon and Gold dragon. Now waiting for my Seasonal Dragon to hatch. Still being denied of a Peridot Dragon. Grrr. hahaha

Hope this Peridot Dragon comes before the end of August. (fingers crossed)
