I'm giving up on my ruby hunt. I've used over 150 gems total with nothing to show for it. Gonna go after the gold.

Just saw this was included in the update. Unfortunately it does not go the other way. I would much rather give up dc for gems.

Peppie I gave up on my ruby hunt and went for gold and I just got it!!! Cost me 100 gems but there is hope you can do it!!

Congrats! That will surely give positive vibrations to this thread and give motivation to the people that are losing hope. so the trick is to vent all your frustration first before breeding.

I felt the same frustration as others, but here's what worked for me (I have 3 rubies now after 30 fails). I took the fails that resulted in chromes (2) and scorches (2), leveled them to 10 and bred in the Sanctuary. I also redecorated islands just prior to breeding to increase the visitors to 70. No clue if both tactics were coincidence, but it landed me 2 rubies back to back. The strategy also helped me pass the time and release frustration. Don't give up! Good luck!

Did anyone else have their friends disappear? I decided to buy the gemstone tree last night since I made several new DV friends. I was just about to begin gifting gems & all my friends are gone!! Anyone else having this problem? My friends show up in the gamecenter app but not in the DV app.. Any ideas as to what might be going on?
