The Hibernation Cave is a very logical item as it prevents the necessity of selling off excess dragons and allows players to fill Habitats with the dragons they want to display in their parks, as less valuable dragons are moved to the Hibernation Cave.

Dragons may be sent directly to the Hibernation Cave when they are ready to be hatched, instead of being placed in a habitat. Experience will still be gained by doing this.

And Hibernation Cave is a must if you're working on Shrine grind:

Dragons can be fed to level 10 and be stored in the Hibernation Cave. Once the shrine you are working on turns silver you can take each dragon out one by one and feed it to level 15 before selling/keeping it. This will help save DC and treats while trying to obtain the Gold Shrines.

Hi snalfa, I had to sell off 3 of my level 15 cold dragons 2 days ago to make way for other dragons I need to level up for the shrine grind. I replaced the cold habitat with water as it holds 4. I now have room for 9 more dragons. I'm hoping they issue an update for an extra 25 dragons to add to the max of 100. I still need 14 more metal, so I know I'm going to have to sell off a few within the next 2 weeks. I too am hanging out to reach level 34, and it will be a metal habitat for me. Don't like them as the dragons are such low money earners, but you have to do what you have to do!

In the same situation, has too many blooms, and all of them is level 15, so I can't sell them it feels like. The metal shrine is not in near sight nor the plant, hoping for an upgrade on hibernating cave and a plant/metal-dragon. I will wait, all my other shrines are gold, so I really don't mind not try to upgrade, better wait than sell a lots of 15 level dragons!

I guess I will buy a water habitat next, even if they don't store that much cash, I think I will earn more than another metal habitat, if the (hopefully) plant/metal I wish for is a high earner..

To you who asked about the cave, I saw you got a good answer before this post.

It think it's a Rainbow. Coz there's no cold element present to be a Moon or Sun.

Is it just me, or is the wizard being generous with the gold medals in the colosseum events? I just got my 7th gold medal in a row. That has never happened before - well, not for me anyway.

I have now reached level 34 - yahoo. I have just purchased a metal habitat (20 hours to wait until I can fill it with my dragons). I sold off my two volcanoes and I have changed one of my islands in readiness for the extra metal. Now, back to earning $$$$ for those hungry little dragons.

$11,560 for each party hat on level 34. That means one visit to one persons island brings in $34,680. Awesome!

Would have be luckier if ruby was mine. Still, I'm happy and I still doing the dragonvale happy dance.
