That is a very good point. When we started the game the fun was to decorate, design, make the islands as nice as possible, changing them when we could get new habitats and dragons.
Meanwhile, the game has turned to a money making factory as Poppy says, due to the fact that you have those shrines, silver ghen gold, who require producing coins and food.
The aim is then to have as many high cash bringing dragons, their habitats, putting the boosters at the right places etc. The design then becomes an option. Some players do not care so much about the cash return and all the shrines stuff and have kept the accent on the design and the fantasy.
One must admit, although they bring a lot if cash, these sun, rainbow and similar habitats are, by far, not so attractive then the basic habitats.

Oh, interesting! I was actually the other way around. Same feelings, but totally different times! When I first started (September?), it was all about optimizing and balancing money and food. I was insanely obsessed! I eventually could not take how focused I was at playing the game to the point that I was not doing other things I wanted. I was spending so much time balancing which dragons were in what habitat and with what other dragons so that each habitat would fill at the same exact time as closely as possible. And the boosts! That is when I chilled out. I also realized that with the max level being 20 (which it was at the time), i had no reason to hurry and finish the game. By the time I decided that I would have more fun if I was not trying to optimize every second, that is when I started to care about decorations. Before that, decorations were a waste of money, with a small value for the experience points you got for them. A little after I started to care about chilling out and decorating etc, that is when the shrines came out. So at that point, I did not rush for the shrines, but looked at it as another goal. Might explain why i do not have any gold shrines yet, but they are coming along. I never would have bothered to play DV if I thought it was a graphic design game. Goes to show that we can all like different things about DV at different times and that our likes and focus can change over time.

I have three Astrolobes. The dragon is still in the market last night I tried one last desperation shot to get a second LYD love/cold Bone/Fog and BOOM! hit them both for 14 1/2 hours apiece.

Unfortunately, as a result of the party, all our employees stayed home today with a hangover so that there is nobody inhouse to stop the availability of the LYD.

I really love all the details, especially how not everything absolutely has to be decorative or pefectly-themed. Like your Dedication Island has the core DV stuff on it to kind of showcase the game, not simply because they all happen to look good together (not that they don't). Love the town Island, too. Tic Tac Toe Island is neat. Why not have a layout thats just plain fun, right? The hidden pots of gold is really funny. They all look really good. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope everyone else goes back and looks!

Thanks to everyone who liked or commented on my island designs. It took a lot of time and dedication to figure out what can and can't be done with the game layout. It was all done on an iphone. Can't wait to get the new ipad that is coming out next month. If it wasnt for this forum and this group of amazing people, I would have no reason to put this much time and effort into this game. I did it for all of you guys. Hopefully it inspires, or encourages whoever sees them to do better.

Hmm, all this time I thought our dragons are crazy for being vegetarians (who on earth has ever seen a vegetarian dragon?) This morning the dwindling numbers of wizards and witches on my islands made me think that the crops have to be grown and harvested by somebody, right? Me thinks these dragons are just as cheeky as BFS and they just use the crops to lure the wizards close so they can eat them.
