Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for some suggestions please. I'm in the process of purchasing an ipad for my daughter who has multiple disabilities (visual, non verbal, cognitive, physical). She is a young gal with a lot to say and no way to say it that others can understand so she gets very frustrated. I'm hoping the ipad can give her a voice. Because she has visual and cognitive impairments she needs real pictures not icons and a very simplified format to work from. Can anyone suggest apps that use real time pictures and is very simple for the user to make a choice from yet can change "levels" easily. We tried a "go talk 4" device, the functionality of it it was too antiquated. It had 4 squares for her to choose from, that worked well for her, but when we needed to go to the next "page" it was too antiquated and she got frustrated waiting for the person assisting her to put in the next sheet (if you have ever used an aug comm device that will make sense, if you haven't it won't make any sense...sorry) plus I had to take pictures with my phone then put them on my computer so I could then print them out then cut them to fit into the page cover for the device (old old technology). So, any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated because I'm on my own with this. We have yet to find a speech therapist that knows how to work with her so I'm on a quest to find the apps that will work for her. Thank you!!!

I hope this helps, some of the apps may allow for pictures to upload to customize the app itself.

I also hope that you can find a Speech Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapy Team to help your daughter. Having that multi-disciplinary team will truly help find a customized program for her.
