I think it depends on where you live how well the service works. I am in NYC where Verizon and AT&T works pretty well except for Verizon data in my apartment. Verizon gave me a free network extender which only works well in only back of my apartment - bedrooms, bathroom and of course NOT in my combined living room and kitchen where I spend most of my time. Might be a firewall, a literal firewall (fireproofing materials in the wall that separates the front and back of my apartment). AT&T works great in my building - towers right outside my building.
T-Mobile and Sprint don't do too well from here from what I understand.
