Apple, to probably abandon Samsung support in the hardware department

The feud between Apple and Samsung is a topic the entire tech world is acquainted with, and the war between them seems to be a never ending one. Even so, ironically enough, the two have relied on one another in the chips and screens department. According to some recent information, this will evenutally not be the case anymore.

A report coming via Korean Times unravels the relationship between the two tech giants has deteriorated severely even though Samsung is still in charge of manufacturing the A6 chips Cupertino puts in its brand new iPhone 5s. The South Korean publication apparently talked to a senior Samsung official and this is what he had to say about the partnership:

``Samsung’s agreement with Apple is limited to manufacturing the A6 processors. Apple did all the design and we are just producing the chips on a foundry basis,” the unnamed Samsung official declared at the technology fare in KINTEX, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Analyst Gus Richard of Piper Jaffray already thinks Apple has started looking for new chip partners and will probably start working with 20-nanometer chips provided by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in the future. According to him the transition will probably take some time and will happen in the beginning of 2013.

“They’ll ramp down Samsung and ramp up TSMC. And some products will get some of one and some of the other,” he stated.

This news is extremely bad for Samsung as the company was getting a lot of revenue from its Apple contracts. Not to mention that the Korean company was recently ordered in court to pay massive patent infringement prejudices to Apple, after losing a big law suit.

Well that doesn't surprise me considering the bad blood these 2 tech giants are having with one another.

The Samsung official quoted seems to have forgotten that Samsung also supplies displays and memory for iOS devices.

Samsung lost only one battle to apple by a jury that had no idea what they were doing, but as for the rest of the courts around the world apple lost their fight on all the court patents

Apple, to probably abandon Samsung support in the hardware department

Not likely that Apple will abandon Samsung as a supplier.
