Apple Admits EPEAT Mistake and Puts Products Back on Green Standard

Following on from the story last week when Apple was found to have pulled out of the government-sponsored environmental standards group EPEAT, AppleInsider reports that Apple has now made a rare acknowledgement of the criticism that followed, and has reversed its decision. Apple’ about-turn was announced in a letter from Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, Bob Manfield, which appeared on the environmental section of the official Apple website. In the letter, Mansfield said that Apple’s commitment to environmental causes had “never changed”. He went on to say, “Our relationship with EPEAT has become stronger as a result of this experience, and we look forward to working with EPEAT as their rating system and the underlying IEEE 1680.1 standard evolve.” This move from Apple comes, as AppleInsider notes, after the city of San Francisco announced that it would no longer buy Apple products without EPEAT certification for the products.

I also heard that news it is said that"Apple has reversed course and decided not to drop out of the Electronic Product Environment Assessment Tool program after all. Effective immediately, all eligible Apple products are back on EPEAT. " but I think it is not so easy for apple to do that, after all, change the system environment needs time and thougths!
