iPad Continues to Rule Tablet Web Traffic as Nook Overtakes Kindle Fire

Cnet reports today that according to new figures from Chitika, the iPad is as dominant as ever in terms of its share of Web traffic impressions, accounting for around 91%, as sampled by Chitika’s Ad network between June 4th and 10th. Great news for Apple, despite the slight dip of 3.5% from 94% back in May. The Galaxy tab is far behind in second place, with just 1.7% of tablet Web traffic. Possibly the most significant finding in these new figures is the fact that Barnes & Noble’s Nook has now overtaken the Kindle Fire in terms of Web traffic impressions, with the Nook having an increased 0.85% share, and the Kindle Fire’s share remaining static at 0.71%. Chitika predicts that although Apple’s iPad still rules the roost at present, it will eventually fall off, as more and more tablets are released, and in particular with the advent of Windows 8 tablets in the fourth quarter of this year.

I have a Kindle Fire, which I use a lot for books, but I never use it on the Web, because I do that with my iPad 1 and 2. So they'll never register Web traffic from my Fire.
