    I have exactly the same problem but on the bottom of the case. The iPad has cut through.

    The smart Case puts the iPad to sleep and wakes it up in the same manner as the Smart Cover.

    Yes it does. I took my smart case back to Apple today and they replaced it instantly. The sales rep said that every now and then with all products they come across one that's faulty. Do not let this put you off what is a fantastic case.
