According to 9to5 Mac today, the new iPad is so impressive it’s even managed to win over the notoriously hard-to-please Consumer Reports. Yes, despite Consumer Reports' previous reservations about the iPad running overly hot, it has now given the new iPad a resounding thumbs up in a new report on the site that compares the most popular tablets that are available on the market today, in conjunction with its new tablet ratings chart. Singling the new iPad out for praise as the best in its class, Consumer Reports makes particular mention of the new iPad’s high-resolution screen, saying that it “establishes a new benchmark in excellence, providing the best rendering of detail and color accuracy we’ve ever seen on a tablet display.” And it’s not just the display that the consumer body is drooling over - it pretty much likes everything else about the new iPad as well, saying that Apple's latest tablet is “superb in virtually every other way”, with special mentions for the 5-megapixel camera, the fast 4G network courtesy of Verizon, and the long battery life. The site also very much plays down its previous report looking into the fact that the new iPad tends to run a little hot, by saying that it did not find the increase in temperature to be of any cause for concern. It also qualified its previous finding that the new iPad is unable to recharge when playing a demanding video game by saying that the problem only occurred when a demanding game was being played with the screen brightness turned up to maximum. And to sum up its sheer and total love of the new iPad, Consumer Reports says the following: “Our high overall judgment of the new iPad was not affected by the results of either battery of tests.”
