All Things D reports today on AT&Tís newly announced data rates for smartphones and tablets. As far as smartphones are concerned, where it had previously been charging $25 per month for 2GB of data, it will now be charging $30 per month for 3GB, and its lowest data plan, which was $15 for 200 megabytes will increase to $20 for 300 megabytes. At the other end of the scale, AT&Tís dearest data plan increases from $45 for 4GB to $50 for 5GB.
AT&Tís new tablet data plans are the same as the smartphone plans for the top two options, but the cheapest option stays the same as it is now, i.e. 250MB for $15, according to MacRumors.
According to All Things D, current customers will be able to remain on their current data plan, even after a phone upgrade, but they can also choose to switch plans if they want. For all new customers, however, the new plans will kick in from this Sunday, January 22.
