Phosphor Games Studio has today announced a new Unreal Engine 3-powered iOS game, entitled The Dark Meadow. The console-quality game is a stunning first-person, horror-tinged action-adventure, where players fight to escape a nightmare world filled with fantastical creatures bent on destroying them. The game begins with you waking up in a hospital uncertain of how or why you arrived there. An old man tells of a beautiful witch whose minions roam the halls seeking to kill the living. To get release from the unrelenting torment, you must destroy the witch.
As you explore the photorealistic world, you use your crossbow for ranged combat and your sword for melee fighting. RPG mechanics enhance the exploration, as a wide variety of items are hidden throughout the world, including scraps of paper that will reveal the mystery of your imprisonment, as well as money, which can be used to purchase better equipment and weapons.
The game also very much has the blessing of Unreal Engine 3 creator Epic Games:“From the start, our vision for The Dark Meadow was to create a top-tier console gaming experience that works on iOS devices from 3GS to iPad 2,” said Chip Sineni, Director of Phosphor Games Studios. “From the real-time cinematics and in-depth storyline, to the gesture-based ranged and melee combat systems, our goal is to integrate the best of hardcore console gaming with the intuitive ease of the casual mobile world.”
Look for The Dark Meadow to be released to the App Store next month.“Phosphor Games Studio has been a development partner of ours for years, and we’re happy to see them create a unique experience for iOS utilizing their talents and skills with Unreal Engine 3,” said Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games. “It’s exciting to see more triple-A quality games coming to mobile devices and we can’t wait to play The Dark Meadow.”
