Cult of Mac has a story today about a corrupt TSA agent who has just been arrested after he was found trying to steal an iPad by stuffing it down his pants. Apparently the agent, named Nelson Santiago, who had worked for the TSA since 2009, had up until the iPad-down-the-pants-incident managed to get away with stealing more than $50,000 worth of electronics from passengers who passed through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s Terminal 1. According to the local news report, when arrested, Santiago admitted to stealing computers, GPS devices, video cameras and much more, from luggage that he was supposedly screening. As soon as he took the items, he would photograph them and post the pictures online in order to immediately sell them, sometimes even before his shift was over. He was eventually found out by a Continental Airlines employee who saw him stealing an iPad from someone’s luggage and putting it down his pants. And that was before they even got around to using Find My iPad to look for it! The Broward Sheriff’s Office says that Santiago no longer works for the TSA. Good to know!
