Today, which also just happens to be Bungie Day, iOS developer Daniel Blezek has released his updated version of Bungie’s classic Mac FPS, Marathon, exclusively for the iPad. Although Blezek started creating his iOS version of the game off his own bat, it comes with Bungie’s blessing. This new version features 27 levels divided across six chapters, with missions including exploration, puzzles, and extermination, and 7 unique weapons, including a .45 Magnum Mega Class pistol and the TOZT-7 flamethrower.
The epic storyline sees you defending the UESC Marathon colony ship against the Pfhor as you take on the role of a cyborg security officer and uncover the secrets of the Pfhor and the UESC Marathon.
The game is free in the App Store to download, but there are two in-app purchases available: HD Mode costs $3.99 and consists of new high res textures for the walls, floors and liquids, and Master Chief Mode costs $0.99, and offers the chance to start playing on any level, with infinite ammo, all weapons, instant shield recharge, invulnerability and instant save.
On first play, this really seems to be a fantastic conversion of a classic game by Blezek, and for free too! Happy Bungie Day!
